International Women's Day 2024

On March 8th, International Women's Day is celebrated. This day globally focuses on women's rights, equality, rethinking gender roles, the gender pay gap, and violence against women. What began in 1911 with the struggle for women's suffrage is far from over. In Austria, one in five women has been exposed to physical and/or sexual violence since the age of 15. Women still take on the majority of unpaid care work (a phenomenon that has alarmingly intensified since the COVID-19 pandemic) and are also paid less on average for paid labor than their male colleagues.

SNO was invited to an idyllic place between Karwendel and Wetterstein.

This place was Mittenwald - a small municipality on the German-Austrian border. The fact that the local brass band's constitution does not allow women was taken as an opportunity to fill the streets with life and music on International Women's Day, to stand together for equal opportunities, fair working conditions, a life without fear, and much more.
