48h Climate Occupation

Fair future for all of us! - This was the motto of the 48-hour climate camp on the first weekend in April 2024. Numerous climate protection organizations in Tyrol gathered at Ni-Una-Menos Platz in front of the State Theater in Innsbruck to demonstrate peacefully and create a space for exchange, cohesion and discussion.

The core topics of the weekend - climate, justice, future - are equally important to us.

In our piece Kingdom Come, composed by the Souljazzorchestra, adapted for us by Leo and accompanied by lyrics by Sebastian, we particularly address the topic of climate. With "plastic in the sea, poison in the air, witnesses of war, bodies everywhere" the lyrics don't just give a description of the current situation. They refer with "See what we have done, isn't it a shame? It was given in our hands. See what earth became!" also clearly points out that we as humans have a responsibility. We were therefore grateful to be able to be part of the extensive program with our contribution. On the one hand, this gave people time to become active themselves with bicycle repair, sewing workshops and planting activities. On the other hand, space was created to learn and discuss fundamental social and political issues that we cannot always have an immediate and direct influence on.

Many thanks to Fridays for Future, Parents for Future, Red blossom IBK, XR Tirol, Klimavolksbegehren, Scientist for future and all other organizations that made this weekend possible!
