Borders Kill Protest

"Thousands of people come to borders not knowing where to go, where they are coming from, making life seem senseless anymore. Borders kill! Borders kill! Borders kill! Borders kill!"

- lyrics to Grenzen Töten

These are the lyrics of our song Grenzen Töten ("Borders Kill") provide a clear message to the music. Our tenor saxophonist Chrissi arranged this piece for us.

The song shares its name with a demonstration, 'Borders Kill,' which took place in Innsbruck on February 3, 2024. The protest highlighted the grim fact that over 110 million people globally are forced into flight due to the effects of imperialism and neo-colonialism. The plight of these individuals fleeing their homelands is intrinsically linked to the prosperity and gains of the Western world. As they make their perilous journey towards Europe, they face the brutality of border police and Frontex soldiers, showcasing the harsh reality of the European border regime.

This event called upon us all to stand in solidarity with those affected by these policies. Embracing this call, the StreetNoise Orchestra participated in the march, lending our voices and music to the cause. Our participation was an act of support for a world where solidarity is not just a concept but a practice, challenging the European border regime and advocating for a community founded on unity and mutual support.
